FAQs

What are medicinal mushrooms?

Medicinal mushrooms are a sub-group of the fungi family that contain active compounds that are shown to produce health-enhancing properties in the body.

Medicinal mushrooms contain beta-glucans, which are polysaccharides. Polysaccharides are long sugar chains with oxygen-bearing molecules. While digesting these polysaccharides, oxygen is released and made available at the cellular level. Beta-glucans attach themselves to the receptor sites on immune cells and activate them. Medicinal mushrooms are packed with triterpenes, phenols, sterols, statins, indole compounds, and enzymes. Mushrooms are also high in amino acids, nicotinic acid, riboflavin, vitamins B, C, and K, and pantothenic acid. Some medicinal mushrooms are also adaptogens.

What's an adaptogen?

Adaptogens are herbs, plants and mushrooms that help regulate the body's stress response. Research suggests that adaptogens work at a cellular level and have the ability to take hormones as a package and move them either up or down, into equilibrium. Adaptogens have the ability to provide resilience and revitalization to the body improving integrity and helping fight against stress and fatigue.

What part of the mushroom do you use?

Our mushroom extract is created from fruiting body mushrooms – the most actively dense part of the mushrooms containing the beneficial medicinal compounds.

Are your products organic?

Yes! We are working on getting certification through USDA Organic. Unfortunately Canadian Organic regulations do not allow natural health products to have the certification.

Are your products vegan?

Yes!

How frequently should I use mushrooms?

Mushrooms are a functional food and can be consumed daily. We recommend 2ml (two full droppers daily) on a consistent basis to experience results.

How long before I notice a change in my body?

The change will be subtle and varies depending on the person. Some people experience an increase in immune function, for example shortened cold duration, or not getting sick during the season at all -- after just two weeks of consistent use. Other individuals in our Pilot study experienced an increase in energy and alertness after 2 weeks of taking our tincture daily.

What is the best time of day to take it?

We suggest taking 11:11 tincture in the morning with your routine of matcha, coffee, tea, water, supplements, smoothie etc. We like to dose ourselves before our day begins so that we can utilize the power of super-mushrooms.

Wait, are you products psychedelic?

No, they are not.

Is the Rainbo safe to take for someone who has yeast intolerance? Or candida?

Yes. If you have a sensitivity to yeast-like fungi, you shouldn't have a problem with the intake of the medicinal mushrooms contained in Rainbo products since these fungi are genetically distinct from yeasts and molds. In fact, the immune boosting effects of medicinal mushrooms may even help fight against the intolerance. However, we always recommend consulting a healthcare professional about your individual situation and to stop taking Rainbo if any discomfort is experienced.

Likewise, if you have a candida infection it should be safe to take Rainbo products as there is no connection between medicinal mushroom intake and candidiasis. Candida is a yeast-like fungus that is found naturally inside the body and on the skin and normally lives in balance with bacteria and other microbes causing no problems. Infection occurs when the beneficial bacteria can't control a rising number of candida thus overgrowth and irritation occurs. This commonly occurs in the vagina and is called a yeast infection. Taking medicinal mushrooms may help boost the immune system as well as provide prebiotics important for supporting beneficial microbes to help restore balance. There are some studies showing that certain medicinal mushroom extracts, such as Reishi (G. lucidum), have specific anti-fungal properties against candida species. If candidiasis occurs or persists, please consult a healthcare professional about your individual situation.
